Commander's Welcome

378TH CADET TRAINING SQUADRON
UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AUXILIARY

November 6, 2002

From the Commander

Greetings,

The fine members of the Civil Air Patrol have a long and distinguished past serving the citizens of this great nation.. For over 60 years the members of this organization have not only met but have surpassed every challenge set before us. During World War II, our brave volunteers, Men and Women alike, patrolled our coastal waters, searching from the air for any threat. Some of these fine individuals, knowing that they were completely unarmed, even dove their airplanes toward the enemy, when submarines posed a threat to our wartime shipping. The men and women of the Civil Air Patrol were also responsible for building, maintaining and providing security for several airports throughout this nation. And yes, many of our Brother's and Sister's gave their lives while fulfilling the multitude of tasks set before us during the war.

Today we are faced with many new challenges. Since September 11th, we once again, are faced with a threat to our nation, a war. Our enemies not only come at us from outside our borders but from within the very fabric of our nation. And once again, the men and women of the Civil Air Patrol are being asked to stand proud and fulfill the many duties set before us by our nation. We stand ready to fulfill the needs of our nation. "Anything, Anytime, Anywhere!" In peacetime and in war, "Semper Viligans" Always vigilant.

Cordially,

1st Lt Martin D. Alderman, CAP
Commanding Officer, 378th CTS
